Abstract:
In order to analyze the relationship between social network and farmers' excessive application of chemical fertilizer, the field survey data of 741 corn farmers of the three provinces in Northeast China is used, and theoretical analysis framework between social network, environmental literacy and excessive application of chemical fertilizer is built. Bootstrap multiple mediating effect test method is adopted to investigate the mediating effect of environmental literacy and explore the mechanism of social network inhibiting farmers' excessive application of chemical fertilizer. The results show that: 1)The impact of social network on farmers' excessive application of chemical fertilizer includes direct negative impact and indirect negative impact through environmental literacy. 2)Social network has a significant positive impact on environmental knowledge, environmental skills, environmental cognition and environmental attitude, but only environmental skills, environmental cognition and environmental attitude can significantly inhibit farmers' excessive application of chemical fertilizer. 3)Social network can restrain farmers' excessive application of chemical fertilizer by improving environmental skills, enhancing environmental awareness and changing environmental attitudes. The mediating inhibitory effect of environmental skills is the strongest, while the mediating inhibitory effect of environmental knowledge is not significant. Therefore, strengthening the construction of rural social network, changing the content and form of agricultural technology training, and increasing the publicity of agricultural ecological protection are of great significance to enhance farmers' awareness of chemical reduction and promote the high-quality development of agriculture.
