Abstract:
In order to explore the impact of cow body condition on milk production and subclinical ketosis, the experimental data was collected at 3 large-scale breeding farms in Heilongjiang Province at 10, 20 and 60 days after delivery of dairy cows. According to the domestic and foreign body condition scorer(BCS)standards, cows were divided into low BCS group(BCS≤3. 00), medium BCS group(3. 25≤BCS≤3. 50)and high BCS group(BCS≥3. 75). Then daily milk production statistics and β-hydroxybutyric acid(BHBA)determination were carried out. The results showed that: 1)Different body conditions had a greater impact on milk production. During 10-20 d, it displayed a very significant(P<0. 01)correlation with milk production in both low and medium BCS groups. 2)The risk of SCK in low and high BCS groups was 2 to 6 times higher than that in medium BCS group(P<0. 01). In conclusion, different body conditions had different effects on milk yield and SCK of cows. When BCS of postpartum cows were 3. 25-3. 50, their milk performance was better and the SCK incidence rate was lower.
