Abstract:
To explore the physiological characteristics of the resistance to Tetranychus cinnabarinus, two cassava varieties ‘Xinxuan 048' and ‘GR4' were used as materials in this experiment. According to the observation on damaged to different cassavas, then evaluated its resistance, and determine the contents of soluble sugar, free proline, soluble protein, chlorophyll and tannin in leaves to analyze the relationship between cassava varieties with damage degree of T. cinnabarinus in the period of T. cinnabarinus hazards. The result showed that ‘Xinxuan 048' was resistant and ‘GR4' was susceptible to T. cinnabarinus with significant difference in disease index. Respectively, the ‘Xinxuan 048' had higher tannin and chlorophyll contents, but lower soluble sugar, soluble protein and free proline in leaves than those in ‘GR4'. There was significant negative correlation between chlorophyll and tannin contents and mite damage index, while there was significant positive correlation between free proline, soluble protein and soluble sugar and mite damage index. The cassava′s resistance to T. cinnabarinus was closely related to tannin and chlorophyll contents, soluble sugar, soluble protein and free proline in leaves, which could be used as main evaluation indicators for the resistance of cassava T. cinnabarinus.
